Huang Dong Fang :)

So I really have wanted to do a post about the whole Cali trip--but I will at least put down this experience for now!

For those of you who don't know the story of Huang, I met her randomly on campus and we remained in contact throughout the school year, every now and then meeting up for some fresh homemade Chinese food. When she was doing her PhD dissertation I helped her correct her English and grammar.

Well, last Friday as I was trying to see whether this trip would really work, Huang randomly called me up ("randomly"). I told her I was visiting Cali that weekend and she asked if I would stay with her at least one night. As I reviewed my plans I decided Saturday night would probably work best--not knowing that she lived only 3 blocks from the church I was attending to hear my former roomate speak!!! It is amazing how God is so involved in blessing his children.

When I told Huang that I would be going to the church, she was more than happy to go with me, and before we left her apartment I gave her the Book of Mormon in Chinese. (Which is another miracle...about 6 months ago I had been with Huang and she told me she would shortly be leaving to CA and I thought I should get her a Chinese Book of Mormon before she left but didn't know how I could find one...the next day I was walking on campus and saw the Elders and asked if they knew where I could get one. The one Elder said, "Actually I serve with the Chinese Elders here, and we were just barely in the lost and found here and they gave us one--you can have it if you want." Huang ended up leaving to Cali only 2 days later and I didn't know she had left so I've been trying to get it to her since then.)

Our Heavenly Father loves his children! I'm excited to see how Heavenly Father continues to show Huang his love.

Meeting new people

Walking on campus has been great. I have been following my wonderful sisters advice of meeting 9 new people a day. I was meeting them before, but not the best way, or being able to remember them very well. So I have a missionary journal that my wonderful brother mike gave to me and I will right their name down and a brief description. It really helps, and I love calling people by name, and I know they enjoy it too. Everyone loves hearing their own name. I was also able to teach in family home evening this week. Curtis is the man

Here we go!

At the request of Mike, here is a place we can all share any and all missionary experiences that we have...large or small! This will be a great way for us to inspire eachother, keep updated on Taylor, and keep the missionary spirit alive in our family! Please start sharing your missionary moments!
